I will be swaddling baby and putting a blanket over top of her in the bassinet. Ofcourse not loosely or anything, but when she is new born with her hands all tucked away while being swaddled i didnt think there was a huge risk with a wee blanket over top so she doesnt get cold- it will be getting into winter here

great thread

although this is my second baby i never got to take my first baby home. i also live 200 miles away from my family and i find my MIL over bearing so this thread is really helpful as there are some things i am clueless about or can not remember from when my sister had her kids (10 years ago now)

i do remember when my nephew jack had colic we used gripe water and dipped his dummy in it. it really helped sooth him and get him to sleep when his tummy hurt.

also my sister fed her eldest jar food all the time, and she really struggled for a good few years to get him on proper home cooked meals. with her second as soon as he went onto solids he was eating the same food as the family and she has never had a problem getting him to eat vegetables or to try new things. he loves healthy food.

ummm not sure what else i can add

if anyone has any tips about bringing baby home wth dogs in the house that would be great xx

When my LO is on solids I plan to buy some jared food for emergencies or whatever, but mainly feed her on what we have for tea. Just put the food in the blender and she can have it that way instead of buying the stuff in jars and feeding them all the time. if me and OH have a slack dinner like something quick and easy she can have the jar stuff, or if going out for the day or something. I don't know other opinions on this but I think it's a good idea x
