Vbac

Hi everyone, I have just been told my placenta has moved from low lying to 7cm from OS so I am able to try for a VBAC is I want!!

Think is I was convinced I would end up with a section as I had placenta praevia last time and thought I was in for the same thing, now Im terrified of having a natural birth!!!

Has anyone had a VBAC? What was your experience and which did you prefer? Probably doesn't help that I had an excellent section experience, so wasn't worried about it happening again!!

Any advice welcome xx

I had a section with my first also and I'm hoping for a vbac too, looks like we're due around the same time so you'll have to let me know if you get your natural birth! I'm really hoping I do as I didn't get an easy time after my last section like you did, really don't want to go through that again

Longing to get that feeling when baby is placed on your chest and feeling proud, and not the feeling I've been robbed of the most natural thing in the world. x

We've just found out that we can try for a VBAC too after having a suspected placenta previa - I'm so excited as had a horrid birth the first time. My midwife recommended reading some VBAC stories online - which I haven't done yet, but the homebirth website apparently has some nice ones.... Good luck!

Thanks very much girls, I have just noticed the replies, I kind of resigned myself to the fact it had fallen of the face of 3rd tri lol x

The consultant has said that I can try for vbac as I never laboured last time, but she will only let me go for 4-5 hours and have a team ready for a section just in case!! I would probably feel different if I had a rough time last time, but it was a great experience!! However, I reckon recovery from a section with a 2yr old would be a bit of a nightmare!!

Pink Panda - I think we are just a couple of days apart, are you having a girl? I'm having another boy, can't wait xx

Jennyowens - Are you having a home birth then this time? I have to go to hospital to be monitored and have intravenous antibiotics for group b strep so unfortunetly I cant even have a water birth, which I quite fancied, never mind xx

I hope it's ok I answer since I'm not currently preg I just saw the thread and I had a VBAC with my 3rd. I had an emergency csection with my 2nd. He was 2 1/2 when I had my 3rd. It went GREAT! I had a previous vaginal birth with my 1st. The csection, FOR ME, was awful, the recover was terrible, just the whole experience. My vaginal births have been a million times easier to recover from....especially with having other kids at home to take care of. I will def do it again next time, and a home birth next time too Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to help you with

Hi ladies... I'm hoping for a VBAC too. I had a c-sec last time after 18 hours of labor and "failure to progress". I never dilated past about 2 cm - even after being on Pitocin for about 12+ hours.

My doc thinks I'm crazy to want to try - but is willing to let me. She thinks that "failure to progress" is the least favorable reason to try for a VBAC. She thinks that if I never dilated last time, that I probably won't this time either. I am hoping she is WRONG! I really don't want another section!

She did tell me I have to deliver on/by my due date though... she won't let me go past. Hopefully I will go into labor on my own before hand... or else I might have to try and stall her for at least a few days more. I hate that I have a "timer" on me! Too much pressure!

Anyhow.... I am nervous about it myself. Really WANT to go VBAC, but wonder if maybe I'm crazy... I mean - I'm all nice and in tact down below - do I really want to mess with that now? What if I have one of those horrible vaginal births you hear about - and it could have been avoided? That would suck! Trying not to second guess myself though!

Well - good luck to us all!

well I was determined to have vbac, then i became resigned to a section too because of a low lying plaacenta and mine too now is not low.

I saw my consultant and said I can't decide so she has booked me in for an elective 4 days past my due date in the hope that it will kick off naturally before then. I am really scared although she has said I can bring my date forward if I want. trying to pluck up the courage so I will follow this thread with interest
