Hi, I had A vbac may 2009 and my best birth experience ( my 4th baby) i am so relieved i took the chance, as i was so nervous about it the whole pregnancy, i was very closely monitored and gave birth to my daughter in 3.5 hours, a very natural and relaxed birth i am going for another natural birth this time around

Wishing you all the very best xxxxxx

Taurustot - what were your first 3 births? I assume the first 2 were vaginal and the 3rd was c-sec? So your body already knew what to do.... right?

I hope mine can figure it out!

yes thats right, my first two were normal vaginal deliveries and DD Emma was c- section due to breech presentation, i guess yes i was lucky and i could do a natural birth still.

sezzlebum - I'm surprised they let you be induced for your VBAC. I thought that was not allowed. Seems to have worked out for you though!

My doc says I can't be induced and I can't go past my due date. They are a lot less VBAC friendly over here in the US though....

Thanks all for your replies it great to see some positive experiences it makes me feel a bit more like I can look forward to my vbac now!!

mommyof3co - Thats my main concern too really about having a LO already at home and having to look after him whilst recovering, its the only reason really Im pushed toward a vbac!! Sounds like you had a really good experience too, thanks for putting me at ease!!

Logansmama - I think if I had been failure to progress last time they would have just booked me for a section straight in!! The consultant was trying to push me for a vbac as I hadn't even tried labour last time!! I'm a bit worried too about the mess down below, my friend had an awful labour and tore loads, so that kind of scares me too!!

sahara - What was the reason for your section first time round? I hadn't even considered going past my due date though, as officially I did start labour with my son as my cervix started to dilate and that was 2 weeks before due date!!

That sounds ace hun, I so hope mine goes the same and I can come back on here with another positive experience!! The consultant mentioned something about only letting me go for 4-5 hours, but Im not sure when they would time this from x

These stories are all really good to hear. I wish someone that was failure to progress the first time would post a positive one to hear! Might make me a little more hopeful of being successful myself...!

Is anyone doing anything special to try and help things go smoothly?
For example - I have started going to the chiropractor. I am going every 2-3 weeks from now until I give birth. I'm hoping that keeping my bones all aligned that it will help baby to stay in position and help everything open up like its supposed to! (Thats one of the main reasons they say causes FTP... that baby doesn't get into the correct position, and can't fit properly because pelvic bones aren't aligned properly).

I would love to get a doula too... but I don't see that happening due to the cost. Its rather expensive in my area.

I would also love to register for a hypnobirthing class. I am thinking about it, but the clock is ticking and I haven't yet. We'll see.....

These are really encourgaing stories! I'm being allowed to go to 42 weeks before talking about an induction... much later than some but there is no actual medical reason to have a second C-section, just the fact that i ahve had one before. I'm hoping not to go the full 2 weeks overdue though as they are talking about another induction which was so horrific the first time I want to really avoid the second time.

My midwife has said that because I did labour for a few hours the first time it should improve my chances of a VBAC despite the section being carried out for failure to progress.

No, I'm not allowed a home birth but I am allowed to labour at home (until contractions 3 mins apart). I don't think I would be allowed a waterbirth either but its not something I'm that fussed over so didn't press the issue.

Good luck all the other VBAC ladies!!
