Just letting you know that I told my midwife about the swelling 2 weeks ago and then told her again today and she looked and they are abit worse than last time, and I have upper-quadrant pain/ under my ribs/ below my breasts, and my blood pressure was much higher than last times. and headaches so she sent me for urgent blood tests which i just got home from to see if i have pre-eclamsia. I should be fine, but definatly tell her everything because even if you don't have it atleast they can test and you will know as it is better to be safe than sorry. Waiting on my results now I should hear from my M/W this afternoon. x

I showed the midwife my feet and my urine had a trace of protein in it and BP was 122/80, highest it's been so far, but again, my midwife didn't seem concerned, just said I have to go back next week for it checking again.
I am beginning to wonder if I have an uncaring midwife or if I am just paranoid!

That's really good bp. I was getting roughly 122/58 each time, then it went to 130/58, then 132/70 then then today its 146/78 which is slowly getting higher so i got sent for tests. They meant to be urgent and they havn't even done then. Midwife keeps ringing them up and they keep saying they arn't finalized yet. Stupid huh!! And while I was getting the bloods taken 2 nurses were trying to figure out how to fill in my form and what was what- not very good as far as i'm concerned. you think they would be abit more onto it than that huh!

I suppose it doesn't look very high compared to yours! I suffer from low blood pressure normally, so I guess that's why I was worried. She did say to me, not to get your hopes up but some women's blood pressure goes up in the days before giving birth! We'll see then!

Miss Muffet, that all sounds very strange that these medical 'professionals' dont seem all that concerned about your symptoms.Where I work Blood results can be accessed at most within the hour. Pre-eclampsia is a serious condition as Im sure your aware of, Id would be going right up to the hospital and finding out my results! or changing hospitals .... Seems like very poor care

OH wants me to write a letter of complaint. Otherwise he will. I mean, surely even if the results came back fine they would let us know strait away regardless wouldn't they? they wouldn't just be like "these results came back fine so we will just send them later, no hurry". Surely not. I keep thinking it must be a good thing they are taking ages, but i'd say it would be like that either way. i can't change hospitals because this is the main big important emegancy blood lab place, its meant to be the place you go for things like this. I'll be giving it another hour before i ring up, because then it would have been 24 hours. thankyou for caring x
Oh by the way- it's not my midwife- she is very concerned with my symptoms, i keep contacting her and she keeps ringing them but the bloods arnt ready. I don't think she is very happy either. it's the people at the blood lab place. They don't know about my sypmtoms, their job was to take my bloods and get them tested and the results back asap. I asked a few times what one was for pre-eclampsia, I asked twice, the 1st one said she didnt know she just takes the bloods, and the other nurse said she thinks it's that one (she pointed to ferriten which i am pretty sure is the iron) I should've finished my nursing degree because they need more caring and onto it nurses around!

no no sorry, I ment it is good bp in the fact that what i learnt from my nursing degree that 120/80 is the average bp in adults. Ofcourse this all depends on the person, if you have a history of low blood pressure then this may be high, or the other way around. I wasn't meaning this is good for you, sorry, I was just meaning in general, wasn't comparing or anything lol. Sorry if we got our wires crossed. I hope everything is ok for you hun, sorry for the misunderstanding xx

My feet swelled up ridiculously tonight. I was at my parents and they were that bad I couldn't even get my Uggs back on when we came to leave and ended up going home with my sister's slippers on! Their house was very hot and I'd been sitting up normally rather than having my feet raised as I would have at home, so that probably didn't help. Luckily I'm at the midwife 9am tomorrow for my 38 week check so will get her opinion to be on the safe side.

oh no! I hope all is ok!! Atleast you have your midwife 1st thing in the morning. Hopefully your feet won't be as swollen when you wake up and you can wear your Uggs!!! (I love uggs lol) x

Thanks Miss Muffet!

The midwife was concerned about my feet and advised me to go straight to triage at the hospital IF they get any worse, or, if the swelling moves to my legs/face/hands, or, if it doesn't subside in my feet when I raise them. She wasn't actually that bothered at first, but my blood pressure was higher than normal (it has been 100/60 at every appointment) so decided to play it save. No protein in urine though than goodness! Uggs went on fine this morning but had fun getting them back on after the midwife had looked at my feet!
