Well i had my hospital tour last night and it made me feel more at ease but it also made it sink in more that i will have to squeeze a watermelon through a small hole!

The hospital here seems unreal from the mainland where i was a couple of friends birth partners. Over here they only plan on havin 3-4 babies delivered a day......6 a day is lots for them and sometimes they dont get any in a day!!

Its supposed to be one of the best in the country and last night all the new mothers seemed to have their own room or a 4 bed ward to themselves. They had a water pool thingy and a big bath,gas and air coming out of the walls etc.

They have telly at each bed and internet if you want it too!! i didnt expect that!

They have their own theatre in the maternity section too which was pretty unnerving to look at and actually made me feel a but queasy!! my stomach used to be as strong as an ox before the pregnancy!!

Has anyone else had their tour and what was it like?

We have a local hospital, but they cant do epidurals or sections there, only very low risk babies are born there...so if you go into labour after 3pm and are high risk you get flown to another hospital by sea king helicopter! Unfortunately, they dont do tours (used to but all the expectant mums got sick on the bus travelling there!!) but today at our antenatal class we watched a DVD made about the hospital. Sadly, the hospital has been renovated since the dvd was made..so it was totally useless! Your hospital sounds great! Wish I was giving birth there!

Hi Sonny, i live here too!!! infact i work at stmarys too!! We are quite lucky and compared to alot of other hospitals we have great facilities!

Actually have you looked at 10cm? Several of my birthbooks have a chart of what each centimeter looks like, and 10 is pretty big.

I have mine next month, I have mixed feelings about it. I freaked out last time I went in there, and I was only with my OH then. I don't want the same to happen when I go with like 30 other women with me!

Off topic, but Im going to the Isle of Wight in June/July time after Ive had the baby, as my OHs family are from there. If you fancy getting a coffee or something let me know (I'm not chatting you up btw lol)
