just been to the emergency doctors. *long*

Over a week ago I kept waking in the night with pains in the lower half of my tummy, took some pain killers and it wore off a little bit (managed to get some more sleep). I had the doctors booked that morning anyway so I go up and went to see her. She checked baby and everything and said all was fine! I told her about the pains and she said it could just be my SPD playing up.

I also had the consulant that week as well, so when I had a few more pains at work I noted it down and told him, he said the same... everything was fine with baby and not to worry. And that it might just be my SPD.

So I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday (just gone) and I told her I was still having the pains and she said the same thing as the doctor and consulant, but she suggested before going to bed to take some pain killers so that I wouldnt wake up from the pain at night and to use some deep heat spray on my back... so off I went to try these.

The pain was better on Thursday night and I thought that was the end of it... but my back felt like it was on fire. So yesterday I spent alday in bed or lounging around on the sofa, and the pain seemed soo much better by the time I went to bed last night.

I woke up this morning and went to get out of bed... and I could barely move again it took me nearly an hour and a half to change out of my PJ's into some leggings and a jumper!! I said to my OH about it and he said not to worry about it - just part of being pregnant so I just thought ok then and went off to do our shopping. As I was walking around I felt this really odd pain at the bottom of my bump again. And managed to shuffle to get the shopping finished, but I was getting really grumpy, really out of breath and really itchy.

Came back home and I was getting worse... So I phoned the doctors and they said to pop in about 1ish... So I go up there. and they see me to tell me that baby is ok, and the doctor said he isnt sure if baby is engaged when midwife told me it was... any I was telling them everything that had been happening etc. And he has said the pain in my bump is where baby is like resting on my hip?
Well... the burning in my back. I couldn't work it out!! i told him all about it and he asked what I had used to help so I told him pain killers and deep heat... And his fact was soo shocked when I said deep heat - i thought it was fine because midwife had said so... Well apparently not!! It has asprin in it... which i am DEADLY allergic to... all over my notes so the midwife should have seen, which would explain the diffculty breathing ect.

So he did a jab with an epi pen i think its called and told me to go home a rest. And if it kicks off more to come back, Well i had a little rest and feel better now.

But it is really scarey how it was someone that had easy access to my notes that gave me the wrong thing!!

Sorry for the long post.

Wow, that doesn't sound like any fun at all. Glad to hear that you're doing better now! You're lucky the reaction wasn't worse than it was.

You should definitely let your midwife know about it...if nothing else, it might save some other poor lady being given the wrong information. Sorry you had such a rough day...perhaps the pain will subside a bit now that you know about not using Deep Heat. That is pretty unbelievable, having something that serious splashed all over your file and still being given the go ahead for using it. Uncool.
