Well It would be good to buy baby lotion, baby oil and head to toe baby wash in the large bottles for the basics. Also if u travel at all it would be good to buy the travel pack. You don't want to buy too much else as too many products can irritate their delicate skin. Hope that helps

I have only bought washclothes. I don't plan on using anything on my newborn.

Baby wash of some type, lotion if you want (I never used this for DD1, I got sweet almond oil and massaged her at night).

Never really used baby powder either. I used the family wash cloths and towels.

And I bathe my kids in the kitchen sink until their almost a year old. When they're infants I just stick this in the bottom of the sink for support:

This thing is nice because it's spongy you can roll it up and pack it for travel very simply, AND you can give baby a bath pretty much anywhere... bottom of a shower, a bathtub, a kitchen sink, even just in a bucket if you HAD to .

For nappies, get one smaller pack of several different brands that fall in your budget. Your baby may fit in one better than another, you might have better luck with leaks or whatever. Then you can go buy that brand exclusively.

I will be getting ours at a local warehouse club (mucho cheaper) and so I will be trying huggies and pampers.

About 70% of the people I've talked to (online and in person) I have heard huggies are better than pampers. Also all the daycare people I've spoken with like huggies, so I anticipate that's the direction we're going to... but we'll see.
