There are only 2 NHS hospitals in Leeds, and the other one is worse than the one Ive opted for by miles, and its really difficult to get to. I would have preferably gone to the RVI in Newcastle (near my parents) because they were fantastic with my mum and brother, but I can't guarantee Ill be in Newcastle when I give birth.

Yeah good point... driving far while in Labor NOT a good Idea... My hospital is literally 3 minutes away from me..right up the road.

I told my parents & In-laws come May I'll be going NOWHERE so if they need to see us then they can visit us. My parents live an hour away and my in-laws live half hour away. I don't want to chance anything!!

Yeah, my parents invited me up for a few days when Im on mat leave (36 wks onwards) but Im terrified Ill go into labour up there! I only live an hour and a half away but the last thing I want is my dad delivering my baby on the hard shoulder of the A1.

My hospital isn't that great, it's old and small. I sorta had to take that one since the other ones weren't taking any other new pregnant patients.

No wonder all you UK ladies are so eager to get out of the hospital! Most hospitals here (the US) have private rooms and private showers. My hospital you labor, deliver and stay in the same room the whole time.

I am actually due to look at our local hospital in 1 weeks time...however i am considering going to a birth centre!?

I know! And my doctor really SUCKS (sorry for the word) I didn't choose her, I sorta had to have her (after I called about 20 something doctors, she was the only one who had some room for a new pregnant lady)

Anyways, I'm not looking forward to my hospital stay, There are not a lot of private rooms, and you don't have a private shower! I really hope I won't get stuck with 2-3 other women in the room with other babies crying and visitors coming in... That wouldn't be much of a relaxing time!
