Wow, thanks everyone! It's really reassuring and encouraging!

Squish, yup I know all about your midwife and in part it worries me that I will get to your stage in pregnancy and have some of the experiences that you have, as mine just seems a little too scatty/unbothered/shirking her responsibility to provide the care requested by my consultant.

My GP really is wonderful; I've never felt so comfortable and happy with the care provided by any of my GPs in the past. I wouldn't probably feel confident with him doing the measurements etc, but everything else I would feel much happier if he took the lead on it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Oh and also, my midwife is a community midwife and doesn't work at the hospital, which is where I am most likely to give birth, so she won't be there during the birth thankfully!

We have no local midwives so apart from my two scans it's been my GP all the way. Perfectly happy with that and will worry about a midwife after bump arrives!

All they're doing is checking BP, urine and general well-being. Your GP is well equipped for that.

Hi, because of working away from home through the week I wasn't able to see a MW, my GP saw me for all of my appointments until 34 weeks when the MW clinic added an extra day which now means I can finish early on a Friday and make it back on time. My GP did all the same checks as the MW but couldn't answer some of the questions I had relating to the hospital I'm booked into - the MW is now answering these for me.

I am only with my GP and he will be the one to deliver as well. Never even seen a midwife. So far I really cannot complain, I trust him and feel he is always having my and my baby's well being as his first priority.
