I'm Currently Feeling: | Being induced The consultant has told me that he wants to deliver by c-section at 36 weeks cos of my history.
I spoke to my midwife and told her that i really only wanted a section if this was absolutely necessary. I also have a cervical stitch put in which has to be taken out at around 35 weeks with an epidural. She told me to ask the docs if they would be willing to induce me by taking out the stitch at 36 weeks and breaking my waters at the same time which sounded like a good idea to me, save having to have an epidural twice in 2 weeks. I see the doc on friday this week so i will ask him then.
I have been reading lots of posts on here saying that people who had been induced most likely ended up having a c-section anyway. Does anyone know if thats when you are induced by drip/pessary or even by having their waters broken?
I'm really confused about this one and would appreciate your opinions. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | From what I gather from my reading, it happens because the body is just not ready to give birth, there for it is not producing the hormones that regulate birth, and so dilation does not progress as it should. Because Pitocin causes much stronger contractions than would naturally occur, it can cause the baby to distress and hence the c-section.
Maybe talk to you MW again, and see if there is anything you can do to help your body produce those hormones that are need, ie with primrose oil, or some other kinds of herbs. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would talk to them both and come up with a game plan that works best for you and baby. I know there are several different herbs that my MW has on her list that can help those hormones. So let me know and I can find the thread I posted that info in. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I hope it all works out for you when the time comes!
I think i would opt for a section as i am a bit of a whimp when it comes to thinking of child birth. My friend had a C-Section and it wasn't half as bad as she thought it would be.
I think i fear the unknown more than anything.
Don't be afraid to ask your midwife questions and alternatives, i hope everything goes smoothly!

I'm Currently Feeling: | Same thing happened to my sister and she was induced and delivered via c-section. Baby was a bit underweight and small but further on healthy as can be. He is one year old today and let me tell you, you wouldnt believe he was born one month early as he is such a sturdy and active little boy. I am sure everything is going to be alright! Your consultant will know what is best for your situation. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i think every1 is different being induced. for me it took 12 hrs 4 it 2 work then a 16hr labour, i had an epi and that can slow down the labour but i was in so much pain i needed it. right at the end i was taken into theatre 2 try and get her out or i wud have had 2 have a c-section, it is common but most give natural births. x |
