I'm Currently Feeling: | Remember the mind is a powerful thing. You need to address your c-section fears and let them go. I watched my best friend tell herself and everyone else how she would end up with a section all through her pregnancy. Well guess what, she sure did. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | What you think about you bring about! There are a lot of people that show no signs of dilation or effacement until D Day. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | googling can be ok if you really cant find info you need. But it is a dangerous thing for a pregnant woman. You get all the worst case scenarios. At 6 weeks, the dr said I had a hemmorage in my uterus, but not to worry, it usually heals itself. What did I do, google all the info and read every womans story that had had the same thing and them telling how they miscarried. I spent the next 2 weeks worrying myself sick, and crying. At 8 weeks when I went in for my US, it had healed itself and was gone. All that worrying because of googling.. I did it again when they said I had a short cervix. And I found out I could go into preterm labor with a short cervic. There I went again on the worry train. I'm now at 38 weeks, so I guess I didnt go early. Do yourself a favor---dont google. Althought its hard not too. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Your MW may have said long, but she doesn't know "how long" Toria...
This study gives women a 1 in 4 chance of having a cesarean section if their cervix was LONG at the LONGEST (40-67mm).
1 in 4 chance.
For women who have the SHORTEST, LONG cervix (16-30mm) their chances of cesarean are more than one in six.
1 in 6 chance.
The average cesarean section rate for the UK in 2004 is 23%. HALF of those are elective.
In other words, just for living in the UK you have a 1 in 10 chance of cesarean. Having a long cervix will give you a chance of between 1 in 6 and one in 4 STATISTICALLY SPEAKING.
You don't know what your cervix is measuring, and to worry about it will only tend to screw your body rhythms up and make your section chances HIGHER. Just relax. Work with your body. It has made a baby entirely without your help or intervention. No? |
