What would you do...? UPDATED PG1

Some of you may have read that when i went to the midwife last thursday, my blood pressure was pretty high at 151/99. Well when i got home, i called the hospital cos i was worried that she didnt wanna see me to take it again for a whole week.

They said I was just about within the ok window, and to call back if i feel unwell, have any tummy pain, or swelling gets any worse. That put my mind at ease big time.

So yesterday, I was at the doctors for something non pg related, and i asked her to take my bp out of curiosity as to whether it had gone down or not. Well it had, which was good, so thought i could forget about it, and just see midwife next thursday so she could confirm

BUT this morning, ive woke up, and my swelling has got worse so now i dunno what to do, cos yesterday my bp was ok, but i only know that cos i got the dr to take it. I dont wanna have to go all the way up the hospital for them to just say my bp is ok, cos i will have to get dh home from work (saturdays are his best day), and will have to get a taxi up there. hubby has said he thinks i should ring the hospital, but just wondered what you all think?

What would you do?

UPDATE

just got back from the hospital, in the end the midwife on call couldnt get out to see me as she was running late, so i had to go in. OMG it was scary, loads of ladies in labour.... i am sooooo not looking forward to that!

Anyway, everything is fine, bp has gone down a bit and urine was clear so she was happy to send me home. my hands and wrists and ankles are still sooo swollen so not sure what thats all about. bubbs heartbeat was 150bpm so that was good. just gotta keep an eye out now i guess!

If your worried see if you can go get your BP checked.

But i have silly low blood pressure and ALOT of swelling (only on one side of my body tho) i was told by my mw that the swelling is just due to stage of pregnancy that i am in.

xx

well it was checked on thursday, and it was 151/99. The midwife was worried, and wanted to see me again in 1 weeks time to re-check it and if it was still high i would have to be admitted. She also said in the mean time if i got anyheadaches or swelling got worse etc to call labour ward straight away.

Cos i was worried, i got the gp to re-take it yesterday, and it went down to 131/78.

i know some swelling is normal, just mines got worse today to the point where i cant get my rings off anymore, so now i dunno whether to just ignore the fact that i had it taken yesterday and still follow midwifes advice and call labour ward

Call the labour ward... I took my rings off already... but i can still get them on and off.
Phone them tell them whats wrong and then they might be able to put your mind at ease or arrange for you to go in.

Please phone them. If something is up then they need to consider all the factors, not just your BP. Your BP could be back up today, you don't know until they check. You also don't know if there's protein in your urine until they check, which is another indication something is wrong.

Good luck, hope all is ok and keep us updated.

I've had the same problem, in and out weekly with similar readings to yours. I havent had too much swelling but I dont think I have had too much fluid retention. My midwife was more concerned about headaches. Another mw told me this week that with high blood pressure you would prob get headaches so severe that paracetamol wouldnt take it away. Only you know how bad your swelling is in comparison, so if your instinct tells you to call midwife then do. Perhaps call her and tell her that it is almost impossible for you to get there today and would she feel it is safe to wait til tomorrow?
I know exactly how you feel, you want to be sensible and do whats best but without being dramatic about everything.
Stupid sodding blood pressure!!!!
