I'm Currently Feeling:

Stupid question

Ahem.. is it possible to lose your mucous plug but not know? After sex the other night I used the washroom and felt something very uncomfortable come out of my lady area. It felt awkward as though I had just pushed something a fair size out... but nothing when I wiped! I even stood up to take a peak in the toilet, but nothing... DH and I had a conversation afterwards debating whether or not mucous would float or sink HAH!

Since that happened I've been having twinges in my abdomen that I haven't had before.. on the top of my bump coming around the sides. They're just short twinges, not lasting long, and they come and go. Also I've been having period cramps that come in intervals as well.

I know the question is stupid-- but I'm really stumped..... can you lose the mucous plug and have it just fall out instead of seeing it on the toilet paper?

I don't recall losing it with my first even though it wasn't there when I had an exam. I looked for it too, so I guess it is possible not to know. My MW said I probably lost it in bits and pieces but I still never noticed anything.

Hmm well I think the only reason I saw it was because when I felt it I ran to the bathroom but it was already on my panty liner before I could sit on the toilet so I would say that it could have just slipped out.

You might have lost part of it, (It would probably sink) or all of it.

I don't even remember my plug with my first. But it came out after I was in labor.

Sounds like your body's getting ready to have a baby though goldlion
