Sorry to bring up old topic..

The swine flu jab!!!

I had decided that I wasn't to have them swine flu jab, but my mum got swine flu about a month back so I phoned my doctors and they put me on a waiting list to get it done!

Any way, I completey forgot about it and I have just looked on my calender and my apt is booked for Saturday!

You dont really hear much about swine flu these days. Do you think I should go for it? Or just leave it?

I don't want to start a debate on the jab. Just opinions please ladies!

Thanks xxx

I had swine flu (wasn't pregnant at the time) alot of people said it just kills your arm for a couple of days but when they got a second opinion from MW and doctor after they got it done -they were told they shouldnt of had it.
Sorry just thought I tell you what my friend was told when she was pregnant and offered the jab. Get a second opinion from another doctor or midwife before you get it done. good luck x

I didn't have the jab and am fine. I had the flu (can't say if it was swine or not), but I survived it!

I choose not to have the jab and would make the choice again because our bodies are made to fight off these things, with the help of orange juice (if it doesn't cause you heartburn!)

Honestly... It can't hurt! I mean, your arm might hurt for a few days, but it's such a minor pain, and if it saves you the hassle and harrasment of being completely laid up for a week or more, why the heck not??

I got mine a couple months back, even though I generally have a very strong immune system, because I really could not find any valid reason to NOT get immunized. All of the major arguments against getting the shot discuss things that MAY happen, and that when they do, happen just as often as they would in the general population or at such a ridiculously small increase, the risk/reward benefit is still strongly in favour of the shot.

There was a dr on BBC news the other morning who said that swine flu had reduced in numbers so much that it's practically disappeared. However, she did say that vulnerable people (including pregnant woman especially in third tri) are more at risk of complications if they do catch it.

I have only heard of a handful of people in my area who've had it, but most in the summer when it first appeared, nothing since. So think I'm going to give it a miss. But you need to work out your own risk factor to make a decision I think x

I was going to have the swine flu jab at 30w as by then baby would be fully developed but would just be putting on weight, I told my MW this and asked what she thought. She couldn't comment cause at the end of the day it is up to you. But my MW did show me a leaflet about swine flu jab and it said not recommened for pregnant weomen in late stages of pregnancy. So that made my mind up.

Im not having it done. A friend if mine had it done 2 weeks before her baby was due and her baby died 2 days later. They have said she had a reaction to it. Weather it was swine flu or not it is to scary for me to risk it. Like you said it seems to of died down.

I'm not having it. Personally I felt the vaccine was rushed and there has not been sufficient evidence to suggest it doesn't/won't harm our babies.
That's not to say I am knocking anyone that has had it, it's just my humble opinion xxxx
