?! preeclampsia ?!.....

i'm from 2nd tri but isn't this more common in third? does anyone have any experience with preeclampsia or any scares with it? I went to my regular doctor's appointment yesterday and simply asked if it was okay that i'm already beginning to get swollen in my hands feet and face and seeing stars and my doc was concerned so i had to give blood and urine...i'm so worried now because it might also explain why my baby is measuring almost 3 weeks small!!!!
any related stories would be appreciated to put my mind at ease...has anyone had to deliver early or take magnesium sulfate or whatever it is they give you for it?
thanks girls

oh yeah, in addition to the swelling and stars my blood pressure was a bit higher than normal like 139/86 i think and i've had a sudden increase in weight even tho i've actually been eating healthier than ever! does this sound like i have preeclampsia?!

Its true that preeclampsia is more common towards the end of your pregnancy, but can occur around the middle too. When do you get your results back from your blood work? Did you have protein in your urine at your MW appointment?

I don't have any experience with this myself, but Margerle and Vanwest have. They're both very insightful women so don't hesitate to ask them.

I hope everything is alright!

I had PE with my first. Try not to worry too much, as that won't help the situation. I ended up with a c-section on his due date- never went into labor but my stats were really horrible when I went in for a regular appt. We decided to induce but then discovered he had flipped breech so just went with the c-sec. This website was really helpful to me: http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/. It has an "anti pre-eclampsia" diet (don't worry, it is anything but restrictive. Just gives you guidelines for all the nutrients you need. His opinion is pre-eclampsia is the result of nutrition deficits). Some experts poo-poo this and say if it was as easy as changing your nutrition, pre-eclampsia wouldn't exist. But what I can tell you from my experience- I started having problems with it around 30 weeks. When I followed the diet, my stats would be absolutely fine. When I would fall off the wagon and not follow it, my stats would be out of control. So I'm a beleiver. Also, my midiwife recommended swimming to reduce the swelling and it worked like a charm (this time too)- I usually have to pee soooo bad within 20 mintues of getting in the water, even if I've just gone. So I know it helps my body eliminate some of the extra water. Hope that helps. The magnesium sulfate, though I never had it, can make things more difficult. I was told I would not be able to move around while in labor and would pretty much be confined to the bed...which is not exactly good for someone wanting to go natural. But also, don't let them strong arm you into doing anything you are not comfortable with. The best advice I was given is to trust my body and how I am feeling. Even when my stats were really bad, until that final appt, I felt fine. Which is why my midwives were okay with me continuing to wait it out. But when I went in on his due date- I felt horrible. Something in me just felt very, very wrong. I felt kind of light headed and out of it. Which is why we decided it was time to induce. So trust your gut. But hopefully, this will all be info you don't need. Even if your tests come back okay, it might not hurt to look and try to follow that diet though-just as a preventative measure. I plan to. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I had it too, induced my DD right at 37 weeks and had her vaginally.

Here's a thread on this from a couple weeks back:
