kicking - reassurance sought no scare stories

Hi there

Boy there are some real scary stories on these sites, am a newbie and just terrified myself even more by reading a few!

I am basically worried about my babies movement. I am 30 weeks and all my kicks are pretty low down (baby head down a few weeks ago) and very gentle. They seemed to get a bit stronger a couple of weeks ago and I could gurantee feeling lots of movement if I lay down quietly. This week however moves seem even more gentle and though I still feel the baby every day it will probably only be wee squirms and movements in the morning and a wee bit at night. Worries me to bits as I keep hearing about ladies who get kicked hard all the time (very envious of you all). Ended up at hospital on Tuesday as none of the normal tricks would work (water and lying still etc - after an hour of nothing I was so upset). They got out the doppler which revealed a healthy heartbeat and they sent me on my way. I sort of thought the kicks would get stronger and more frequent and higher - still worried!

Any ladies out there whose babies are pretty quiet or are experiencing anything similar. Seeking reassurance please try not to scare me!

Haze x

Every ones different hun!!! Don't panic. My LO tends to have a few days where he kicks the living daylights out off me and other days where he won't kick so hard. Depending on your LO is laying depends on the strength of the kicks, maybe he is just laying with his back to your belly, so that all the movements are towards your insides which makes them slightly more gentle than if LO was facing the other way. If you still feel LO moving and the MWs are picking up a good strong heartbeat then try to relax a little, sometimes I can go for about an hour or two and not feel anything either!!
But if for any reason you are still worried it won't hurt to call the MW for reassurance, after all that is why they are there!!!

P.s welcome to BnB!!!

Also depends where your placenta is, how big you were before you got pg plus as the baby gets bigger it has less room to move and you feel rolling type movements since it hasn't got space to swing a punch or a kick! I think the key is what's normal for you hun xx

So glad u wrote this post. I was getting really strong kicks at around 20 - 28 wks. Fell in snow (onto my knees thank god - but quite hard) on weds and so was getting really worried about bubs, especially as he seemed quieter. Still feel him, but more gentle rolls of movements than punches/ kicks. As baby gets bigger tho there's less space so feeling gentler rolls etc is common.

I know how worrying it is. Saw my mw 2day and heartbeat was fine so that was good. Also remember, at this time, 30wks, the baby is having massive growth spurts (in order 2 double its weight in 10 wks) so movement will get a bit quieter. Hope this helps a bit x
