Confusion.. Measurements and Growth Scans.

Afternoon :].

So i had an appointment with my midwife on tuesday and it turned out i was measuring 5 weeks behind what i should of been. 5 weeks seemed alot but tbh i was trying not to think about it.
My aunt was induced nearly 7 weeks early with my cousin because she had barely no fluid so of course it scared me silly when the midwife then started talking about the anmiotic fluid levels too.
Anyway my scan was booked for the thursday (yesterday) and of course i spent the time in between worrying like mad and thinking the worst.

Well....
Turns out our little girl is measuring bigger than average . Confused much? lol.
I know that these things are never 100% accurate but it bewilders me how i can go from being 5 weeks behind, to baby being above average.
I'm still trying to figure out where she's hiding! ha.

Anyway mini rant over.
Hope ladies and bumps are well .xx

Bet thats a relief. im so glad that things have turned out ok. Fundal height is not acciurate as you now no. it would be a lot less stress if we could just have scans instead of fundal height. It does make you think dosnt it. If you can be measuring normal when you fundal height is out by 5 weeks then it must mean people fuindal height could measure normal and your baby be big or small but it dont get picked up. My findal height is 4 weeks ahead and baby is 3 weeks ahead.

I'm in the same confused boat with you! Our little one has been measuring ahead rather than behind though so they scheduled a growth scan.

Head circumference is just a tiny smidge below the average line, femur length is bang on average and belly size is on the above average line....!! Plus I have extra fluid it seems so now I have to go in for a GTT on Monday and another couple scans to take measurements again. I really have no idea what they're going to do if baby is measuring wrong.. they all kept saying nothing to worry about... but then scheduled 3 more scans! (3 scans makes me worry!) Really really hoping I don't have GD. This house is in no way ready for baby!

Bumpy - did they say if you had less fluid than normal? Because that might account for some of the difference, not enough fluid to make your fundal height as big as it should be, leaving more room for baby to be bigger...? With all my extra fluid baby was smaller than they were expecting. (Still approximating 7.1lbs at the moment with 3 weeks to go!)

Nope! I'm actually on the shorter side! 5'4 and hubby is only 5'8

However, I was a big baby, hubby was a big baby, all our siblings were big babies AND our parents were big babies.... so I always just assumed that I was in for a big baby! (by big I mean most of us were over 9lbs)
