Angry

Scan or no scan?! RANT!!

As you may remember from the other day I was meant to be getting a growth scan done because at 30 weeks my FH was 28cm and at 33 weeks it was 29.

Well I'd been really struggling to get an appointment as the doctor didn't fax through confirmation and they told me I had to ask a midwife to do it instead.

Now I've been told by the midwife that I need to see a consultant first and he/she will decide whether I need a scan.

I'm no expert but when your FH is behind anyway and then in the space of 3 weeks increases by only 1cm, surly just to get on with a scan would be the best thing!

She asked if I feel my baby is growing well. I said I did since he moves plenty but then obviously not because there has to be a reason I'm measuring so small.

I'm having a really stressful few days anyway. Tomorrow I'm moving house & I really hate moving as it is! We will then be 2 hours away from this hospital where I will need to see the consultant but I don't dare change till all this is sorted or they'll probably get mixed up and it will take even longer at the new hospital.

I hate it when they tell you things like this, indicating that there may be a problem and causing you to really worry and then spend ages F*****g around rather than doing what they need to!

Oh i'm really sorry that they are putting you through this hun, ever since i found out my baby has urinary problems I have done nothing but be messed about, sometimes i'll be given a scan date and then they keep be waiting for 5 HOURS only to find out when i get in there I hadn't been booked in.
The only way to get somewhere is to get shitty it seems. I hope you get a scan soon, its ridiculous you haven't been. Because if they say baby is measuring small you should be seen without having to see a consultant. Goodluck and try not to let it stress you too much because you need to be strong for bubs xxx

i would insist on the scan, its so annoying to be messed around and we feel so helpless. although its highly annoying id just follow the steps and make sure i got my scan. entering in a battle of who is right or wrong probably wont get you anywhere but more frustrated. sorry ure having to go through this.

Well I got a call from my midwife who said I have an appointment at 9.50am on Wednesday to see a consultant.

With a bit of luck they'll send me for a scan the same day since I'll be in the hospital. I'm going to really push for it because surly it's better to be safe than just to assume everything is ok!

I'm going to be really angry if they try and make the appointment for another day!

Charlotte - do you mind if I ask you about your baby's urinary problems? My baby is almost certainly to be born with urinary problems as well - that I might have to use a catheter on him everytime he needs to pee, or maybe that he wont be able to stop it from just coming even when he is older - so will again need a catheter.

I really don't know much about it, as it is one of the least worrying things he may have wrong with him. What is wrong with yours? I hope you don't mind me asking!

I was told if I measure 2+ under or over I'd be scanned straight away!

VERY unfair to put this kind of stress on you I hope you make the consultant very aware of this.

Good luck x
