I would say no on the Ford Focus, I had one..and they're rather small, and it only lasted me about 4 yrs before it was dying. I just recently baught a Dodge caliber, and I love it..it has a hatchback and plenty of room for babies stroller and more in the trunk and nice backseat..and in the glovebox theres a little like cooler..and it's great on gas, plus dodges last forever

Before I became pregnant I drove a mini cooper, and quickly realised that it wasn't practical during pregnancy let alone with a baby and all the stuff you need! We looked at what felt like HUNDREDS of cars when we decided to trade in the mini, and ended up with a VW golf - I love it! It's still fairly 'small' from the outside but has loads of space in the actual car and the boot is plenty big enough for baby gear.

My husband drives a ford focus and that is also great - the boot is bigger than the golf, but I would recommend either of those cars, both seem very reliable.

I have a 57 plate Peugeot 308 and after a 106, 206 207cc and an Astra it is the best car i have ever driven and owned! It has loads of space, big boot, very economical on a 1.6 diesel but still has a lot of power under the bonnet. I have the SE version, defo worth paying the extra for the alloys and raised centre console makes a world of difference!

On the Safety Side, My husband pulled across infront of a recovery lorry travelling at 40mph on the 11.12.2009 which ran straight into the back passenger door/boot and swept it across the road into another parked car. The back was ripped open so i could see the whole width of the tire and the door crumpled and fairly battered on the outside. But inside there wasn't a mark! My nephews car seat was in the car and everything was totally fine, didnt move an inch!. Couldn't reccommend the car highly enough and would buy another in an instant.

I've got a Toyota Avensis, solid, reliable, good fuel consumption, very comfy and an enormous boot - would definitely recommend. Everyone I know who's had a Citroen has had some kind of problem, usually electrical and hard to find/fix x

My Fella works in Motor factors and regards relaiablity and availablity/price of parts - he'd deffo suggest Focus as which i would..
and his dad has baught ONLY ford focus from new every 2 year
he swears by them.. and tbh i dont think hes ever had a problem with one besides the coil pack going in one back in 03 and that was fixed underwarrenty the same day
Iv driven them , been driven in them, and find them steady on the road, good handling, everything easy to touch get at in the drivers seat and a dam nippy wee car with the Zetec engine

we've 3 cars , soon upgrading to a 4th for myself and baby when he arrives
we have a xr2i fiesta (away for resortaion)
a DOHC MK5 Escort ( 3dr and modified, not suitable to chauffeur a newborn in)
Mitsubishi Galant advance - 5dr saloon, ample amount of space, deffo be one of the family cars

and am buying the estate jap import version of the galant a month or two after the baby is born and using that as the family car then
it will be a 2.5 twinturbo VR4 Mitusubishi Legnum, as an estate have a massive boot so plenty room for travel system and everything else for me
xx
