So my aunt..

The beauty therapist (yes she does like to point that out all the time!) was telling me about some herbal ways to make the baby come quicker. Anyone believe in them? She said to start taking them 4 weeks before you want the baby to come. I dunno if I believe all that though? I guess I'll give it a go from 34 weeks.

Yeah I'm going to start walking as far as I can (without dying) everyday from Monday. My dog will love it!

From the sheet:

There are many beneficialherbs that have been used for eons inEurope and North America to aid in the birth process. We feel that theuse of these herbs in the last few weeks of your pregnancy to increase your hormone levels hleps your boyd to become more effaced, dilated, and softer by the time you go into labor. This is definitely going to make the birth easier and quicker. Occasionally we will find a lady who is overly sensitive to these herbs. If they make you feel nauseated (this is very rare) we don't want you to take them. Try them with food and on several different occasions before you make your decision.

There are two different formulations - Nature's Sunshine 5W and Doctor Christopher's PN 6 or Pregnancy 6, made by Nature's Way. They are basically the same and we recommend either one. The dosages and how to take them are listed on the bottle.

We suggest that when you take one a day, you take it in the morning.
When you begin taking two a day, take onbe in the morning and one in the afteroon.
DONT take them in the evening because you may be kept up with contractions.

When you take three a day, take one in the morning, one a lunch and one around 3:30.
When you take 4 a day take 2 in the morning, 1 at lunch and 1 around 3:30
When you take 5 then take 2 then 2 then 1
when you take 6 take 2 then 2 then 2

We have had a couple of ladies who have had their babies early. If your cervix is dialating early or if you are having lots of contractions, consult before taking them.

BORAGE OIL, EVENING PRIMROSE OR BLACK CURRANT OIL

These supplements come in a gel cap. They are a bit expensive, but worth it. They contain gammalinoleic acid which is a fatty acid your body uses to make the hormones of pregnancy. These help raise your levels of relaxin, progesterone, and estrogen. These hormones are critcal for softening the uterus, cervix, vagina and pelvis. Your cervix has to soften so it can dialate and efface.

When we feel that not enough softening or 'ripening' has taken place, w will encourage you to take Evening Primrose Oil or Black Current Oil. We suggestyou take 6 caps every day, 2 three times a day. You will begin four to eight weeks before your due date. We ask that every woman who has had a previous c section or a long difficult labor take these.
