Baby dropped at 30w5d- does this mean it will be early!

Hi Guys,

I'm a little worried every site I look at it tells me that baby should not drop until between 34 and 40 with first baby, well my mum pointed out mine had dropped on Monday and MW confirmed yesterday baby has dropped ready to go - it was a stand in MW and I didn't feel like I could ask any more questions as she was rushing me out. I have an appointment with my MW friday but I am concerned. Does anyone else have experience of this? Do you think this bean will be early? I don't mind as long as it waits till after 37 weeks!!!

Thanks guys I look forward to your comments

I have read they can engage when first from 30w onwards, but dont know the ins and outs of it all. Are you getting any symptoms? Any concerns ring up for peace of mind x

I don't think it means baby will be early, first babies can engage early and stay put for weeks and some don't engage until labour starts! Any concerns speak to your mw xx

Hey hun, i was told its normal for baby to be engaged from 30 weeks plus, but as like the others said why dont you do to the day assessment unit just to get checked out and ask questions that is what they are there for then you will have piece of mind!! how are you feeling other than that any other signs ??? xxxx

I think first babies can move down that early, they can even work their way back out sometimes, so I wouldn't worry....I'm pretty sure my first was about 32 weeks when she dropped & she made an appearance 11 days late xx

They can move in and out of being engaged quite easily at that gestatiuon as there is still plenty of room. So it doesn't mean that the baby will come early.
