UPDATE POST 1:ECV this morning -AAARRGH!!! ECV Unsuccessful!

So, baby is still breech at 38+4 (as the wee bugger has been all along!)

We are going to the hospital at 8.45am for an attempt at an ECV - external cephalic version - they try to turn the baby so that its head down.

A bit scared - most people (ok, not a lot of people have had this!) say its very painful.

Wish me luck - I will let you know how it goes.....

UPDATE........................

After so much pain/tears etc we gave up!

So, babys head was at 12 oclock to start, we almost made it round to 3 o'clock before we decided that was enough!

It was unbearable!

I would not go through it again, but I am glad I gave it a shot!

C-section booked for monday at 39+3

Good Luck!!!

Friend of mine had this done, and yes was sore, but she was only given 10% chance of success and it worked for her!!!

VERY good luck.

I had a Consultant appointment yesterday and turned down an ECV. My reasons were:
- baby is "footling breech" (feet are below the bottom - more bits sticking out, so harder to turn).
- Constultant examined me and was very impressed with my abdominal muscles (great for recovery apparently, but not good at all - either for success or pain - for turning...).
- Consultant was very honest and said it "isn't a delicate procedure", it is rough and would probably take 30/40 minutes.
- She said that most of her successes happened when women were 110% dedicated to it working (through the pain and the tears).

She gave me a below average chance of success... so I declined.

Will be interesting to hear how you get on.
