Some of you may know I've had some problems with my local hosp. I was told I would be treated as diabetic since I had gestational diabetes in my last pg. I stamped my feet and insisted on a test to be sure. 1st, 22wks - normal, 2nd, 28 wks - borderline so according to diabetic nurse and mw no need to be tested again but Dr insisted and then got stroppy when I said I wanted the test done in phlebotomy instead of FMU. Apparently it was awkward for her, she would have to phone for the results (as opposed to the mw collapsing my veins if last time was anything to go by). I stood my ground and had 3rd test done in phlebotomy. Was told they would ring last Wed or Thurs if I needed to go back. No call but I was worried that it might be just an oversight due to hols (and I'd had glucose in my last urine sample).
Tried ringing lab (phleboltomist gave me number - can't give me results, phoned GP, no results, phoned Dr's secretary, has results but won't give them to me and Dr not back until next week (so much for urgent medical condition). Tried to phone mw - phone off. Beginning to get desperate. Called GP surgery again, receptionist (lovely lady) told me to ring hosp and ask for results to be faxed through.
I might as well have asked for the world, what a stroppy cow,
'I told you before, Dr is away, I'll get someone to look at them in a day or 2'. Me 'I'm 33 wks pg, don't really want to leave it another week if there's a problem, could you fax them please?'
The results sheets don't fax so I'd have to type the results up' (3 numbers!!)
Me, trying to remain polite 'I'd like you to do that please'
'I suppose so'
Me, still trying to remain polite 'Do you have the fax number?'
'I'm sure I can find it myself'
Me 'I have it here'
OMG by the time I came off the phone I was steaming but the upshot is, she did send a fax and I'm normal 'hooray'. Please God I never have to speak to that woman again.

I already have a fear of hospitals but not sure how I'll cope in labour if I get anyone as stroppy as her or diabetic Dr.

sorry for the rant, needed to get it off my chest. guess I should just be happy that me and LO are ok

phew what a nightmare, at least its sorted!!

Try not to let it upset you so much that it makes your labour a bad experience. I know what im like and when something like that happens (especailly with hospitals - which i hate) I end up getting really upset later on by smaller mistakes they make because i feel like its the straw and the camels back.

Try to treat tomorrow as a whole new adventure so you have the best chance of feeling positive during labour

yikes - doesn't sound like a fun ordeal at all, at least everything came back normal!

I'm sure the labour ward will be much nicer when the time comes.
