Hey all, I'm new to this forum, signed up today for info, advise and reassurance!
Today I have been put on Clexane injections daily (40mg). I'm 29wks, this is my first pregnancy and I'm having a little boy.
I did my first injection with the midwife telling me what to do, but I'm a little anxious about tomorrows doing it on my own! I've been prescribed this because I have Facor Xll (12) Deficiency, a blood disorder which puts me at an higher risk of having thrombosis. I've had the injections in the past when I've been on long haul flights, but that was just 1 injection for each flight. Daily seems like such a big dose.
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced any nasty side effects from these injections, other than the bruising!
x

hiya i was put on 40mg of clexane due to a previous DVT i was really worried about it but you soon get used to it and the pro's far outweigh the cons, i do my injection at 8am in my tummy it was hard and 1st but it gets easier every day, i have had no side effects and i have had many discussions with consultant and MW as i was so anxious about being on them 40mg is just a small dose its a preventive dose the MW actually told me 40mg of clexane will only thin my blood to the same as her blood as your blood thickens by 8 times when your pregnant so its not even getting that thin just pre pregnancy blood. She said it shouldnt cause any complications during delievery they are happy for me to stay on it they even spent half hour convincing me it was the best thing to do, epidural will only be done if you havent had a injection in a good while and it depends on the actual anthesistast but they said ill be fine and its the safetst thing, im happy im on them now its scary to think how much your blood thicknes and if you are high risk its a small thing to do every day, really dont worry about taking them you will be fine if you need any more advice or have any questions PM me xxxxxx
