She's...BIG?

So I had my 30 week appt today (@ 29+5) and after a LONG wait (3 bubs delivered this AM) I FINALLY got to see an actual doctor instead of the stupid MW that I hate seeing! He checked my hands and feet for swelling (MW never did that), actually talked to me (she never did THAT either) and measured me. He said that she's measuring at 31 weeks instead of the 29 that I'm at. The MW was telling me that she was measuring SMALL. Doc said I could just have a lot of fluid, or it could be her. Then he said that when I have my next apointment if she's still big they might schedule a scan to check as to if it's her or the fluid and if it's her they might induce early or schedule a C-section (which I do NOT want). Blah...least I got to see a DOC this time though!

Oh yea...and I only gained one pound over the last two weeks...YAY!

That's why I never wanted a MW. I think their knowledge is somewhat limited.

Glad everything else is good

Glad you got to see someone better this time. Measuring ahead can be normal. I was measuring perfect for dates, until recently. Now I'm measuring ahead. My doctor estimates that they baby is already 8 1/2 lbs, but she also said that I have some extra fluid. I'm surprised that they are talking about options this early. My doc wouldn't even get specific until my 38 week appt, since she said that there was the chance that I could go into labor on my own early (as in 36-37 weeks). Also, my doc told me that since I was not favorable for an induction (cervix was doing absolutely nothing), that she would only induce if I was past my due date, and still nothing was happening.

Another thing my doc told me, when they know that you are having a big baby, they are much less likely to try to continue pushing thru labor if you are not progressing.

I wouldn't worry too much about it yet tho. If they are only basing this on that you are measuring two weeks ahead, they really cant tell yet. In a few weeks, they will probably start feeling the babies parts, and might do an u/s to try and guage her size. (Although the u/s's have been known to be wrong when it comes to weight) I hope things go good, but remember that a section isn't the worst thing in the world. I was pretty upset when I first agreed to have one, but I know its best for baby, and thats the most important thing.

I had a checkup and measured 3 weeks ahead (from being 5 weeks ahead two weeks ago)and my dr was content that we're slowing down, since if I keep going at this rate, I will most likely end up with a Csection..
