I'm Currently Feeling: | 37/38 week appointment After waiting for TWO HOURS I finally got to see my GP for a 5 minute appointment. I was concerned about my weight gain as I had gained another 4lbs in the past two weeks and 6lbs before that. She didn't seem phased by it, though.. and that too concerned me a bit. I read that its normal to gain 1lb a week, not 2-3lbs. I haven't changed my diet much at all since the beginning of my pregnancy. I also had +1 protein in my urine and I had to ask her about it when I saw it on the paper. Again, she wasn't concerned. She said it will fluctuate sometimes and that there is only need for concern when there is +3 or +4 protein.
Should I be worried about my rapid weight gain coupled with the +1 protein or am I simply being paranoid? I've had trace protein in my urine for my last few visits.
Ugghhh! Only a few more weeks to go. I don't think LO will arrive anytime soon as she's still very high up but I'll still keep my fingers crossed | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had traces of protein quite a few times. It was +1 when I was in hospital and they didn't even look into it. I figured that if I was there anyway and if it was a problem they definately would've checked it out.
I've been gaining about 2lb a week already. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I wouldn't be alarmed. Sounds like your doc has a good handle on your care. You see her in 2 weeks again? Or are you on a weekly schedule now? | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | Not sure about the weight gain, but I've had trace amounts of protein in my urine the last couple of visits. The OB told me they only worry about it if it gets higher and/or is accompanied by elevated blood pressure. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would be a little concerned. Is there another doctor in the office that you can ask? It seems like she is kinda just brushing things off, but clearly thats not a good idea. I'm not sure about the weight gain, I actually lost 3 lbs at my 37 wk appt, and stayed the same for my 38 wk. But again, if your concerned about it, and you can ask another doctor, I'd definitely do that. Or even a nurse in the office might be able to offer some insight. It drives me nuts when doctors kinda blow things off, because even if they have seen it a bunch of times, its our children they are blowing off! Make sure to stand up for yourself.
Its funny cause even tho baby was low, and I was getting odd pains here and there, I knew she wasn't going to be coming anytime soon. It was like I could just tell that she wouldn't be here yet. Hope LO does decide to make an appearance soon for you tho hun! You've only got a little bit longer, but this last little bit is certainly the hardest. | | | | Status: Offline

If you are worried about preeclampsia, just make sure you note any nagging headaches, starry vision, and serious swelling in arms and hands. If this comes up for you, let the doc know right away - otherwise hang in there till next appointment. We can hope you have baby by then ! | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | well, at my appointment today it said I gained 5 lbs, which is absolutely impossible.
the thing was, they changed the scale. and the lady who weighed herself after me was PISSED because it said she gained 9 lbs in a week.
I know there is no way I gained 5 lbs...no way. | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | If your worried I would talk to your doctor about it at your next visit. Tell them you noticed the +1 urine and you would like to know if it's something to have caution about. I put on 2-3 lbs a week sometimes | | | | Status: Offline
