Glad to hear everything's ok Aqua!
Was reviewing this information and noted they still said a test of blood or spinal fluid was used to determine Strep B.
So edited with the following: Quote:
How do you find out if you carry group B strep during pregnancy?
CDC’s revised guidelines recommend that a pregnant woman be tested for group B strep in her vagina and rectum when she is 35 to 37 weeks pregnant. The test is simple and does not hurt. A sterile swab (“Q-tip”) is used to collect a sample from the vagina and the rectum. This is sent to a laboratory for testing.

Linzi........I asked my midwife at my 24 week appointment about this as in the magazines it says you can buy a kit for about 35 quid but the midwife said that if i have worries about it i can book in with my practise nurse to get tested at the appropriate time.
Im on the isle of wight so not sure if its just different areas do it? ask and say its really worrying you and they might do it nhs.
Let me know how it goes. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | That's great news! I know how worrying it can be waiting for these results - I was petrified about this because at the time I had the swab I was planning on a home birth and a positive strep B result would mean no chance of that. I'd tested positive for strep B before (wasn't specifically being tested for it at the time - this was about a year ago before I was pregnant) so I was extra worried that the bacteria would still be there, THANKFULLY it was an all clear result for me too in the end so something during that year must have got rid of the strep B for me!
Woohoo for us girlies who don't have to have an intravenous antibiotic drip during labour! |
