Hospital yesterday :(

I had to go to the hospital yesterday because I had a lot of pain down my right side (felt like Id pulled a muscle, but it was very swollen and tender) and my OH was worried about my appendix.

They sent me to L&D even though I knew it wasn't a problem with Junior and did their checks (they did that thing to my cervix which may be the most painful thing Ive ever felt... I called the doctor a sadistic ******* lol) and just told me it was Junior growing and stretching out my belly. It didnt matter how many times I told them I didnt think it was the baby, but they didn't check anything else out. They gave me some painkillers though, which were ace and completely knocked me out for the best part of last night.

I woke up this morning though and it's about 50 times worse than it was yesterday. I just can't move at all, and it's spread round my back and into my left side as well. It just feels like someone is sqeezing me really hard. It's so painful

Im really worried that it's something that they didn't check because the only people who looked at me were a midwife and a dr who obvs were looking for something wrong with the baby, but Im convinced it's not. Has anyone had this sort of pain before?

My friends due on the 19th April and around her 20 week scan she had ALOT of pain down he side. She said it felt like someone was crushing her and the doctor did nothing about it. Didn't even check the baby out.

Sorry to hear that your doctors didn't check you more thoroughly. If it were me and I was worried I'd go back.

sorry to hear you are hurting so badly . Are you able to keep food and water down? If so then it's probably not a problem with your appendix (let's hope not anyway!!) Maybe it's a bad bout of acid reflux? I had similar pain and that "someone is squeezing my insides" feeling back in January and it was acid build up + a gallstone passing in my gallbladder (as long as the stone isn't too large, they usually pass on their own over a few days time). I hope you start feeling better and if you go for a second opinion, let's hope that doctor is more helpful!

Linzi I think you should most definitely go back. If you're worried about your appendix, it's important to get checked again by someone else... especially since the pain was worse today. The most important thing is that YOU know that something is wrong and it has nothing to do with the baby. Get checked out again.

I have a muscle issue on my right side, it is my LO pushing and pushing on that side, little stinker is not much of a kicker, BUT it is not swollen, nor is it spreading. Give your GP a call and talk to him/her.

Thanks girls

Im not not worried necessarily about my appendix, because I think it would probably be a lot worse than this, and I can keep food and water down. Its just agonising pain. Like being crushed as toria said. Ive started feeling it in the top of my legs and behind my kneecaps now, so Im going to see my GP tomorrow.

Thanks girls

Just a quick update...

The pain has now spread from my stomach and back, to the joint where my right leg meets my hip... the rest has pretty much gone but this is unbearable.

I rang NHS direct yesterday (because it was a bank holiday and I didnt want to go to hospital if I didn't have to and the woman I spoke to said 'Ring the delivery suite again' and I asked her if theyd be able to tell if it was something else, she said 'well no, but thats not their issue, thats the GPs issue'.

So I rang the delivery suite who sounded thoroughly pissed off with me, and told me there was no point coming in, which was what Id thought in the first place. I KNOW Im not in labour, and I KNOW theres nothing wrong with Junior, but I can't walk, I can't sleep, I can't get up stairs and the painkillers are doing nothing at all.

So Im going to see my GP today. Im fed up with the pain, and Ive got to get to work somehow today because I have a deadline.

Grr!
