Question

Scared and Worried!

I really don't know what to do...

Last night I was looking on the internet at why my pelvis/leg joints are SO painful and all the symptoms I have point to SPD, which to be honest I can wait until my appointment on Wednesday to get checked out by the GP.

Although now I'm worried as I have noticed the last few days I have had a headache everyday and my feet and hands have really swollen up. However last night was really scary as when I shut my eyes to go sleep every few minutes I saw a flash of light...assuming this was thunder and lightening I thought nothing of it. Then at 2pm *usual loo time* when trying to get back to sleep I noticed it a few more times.

So as soon as I get up this morning I google it and it all points to preeclampsia and now I'm really worried because if it's right I don't know if I should be waiting until wednesday to get it checked out?

Thing is as it is Saturday my doctors surgery where the MW and GP's are is closed until Tuesday. The only thing I can do is go to my Maternity Unit, but I don't really wanna go there if it is nothing and be a bother.

Would really appreciate all your help and advice

*off to work so will not reply till later*

Thank You x

Thats what the Maternity unit is there for and you are not a bother to be concerned!!!!! I would go, especially after all the preeclampsia like symptoms that you have described...

Nothing to loose by giving mat unit a call. Think there is a number on front or inside maternity notes. Let us know what happens

If you are worried about it, you should go in to get checked! Like the girls have said, thats what they are there for. The hard thing with pregnancy is that so many symptoms of things that can go wrong, can also be regular pain in the butt pregnancy discomforts. I've thought I had symptoms of pre-e quite of few times, but it turns out to be nothing when they check my BP and urine. I also thought I might have had SPD, but they said that all of the pain I'm experiencing is due to the pressure from LO. I'm def not trying to talk you out of going, because if something doesn't feel right to you, you should. You know your body better than anyone else, and you need to take care of yourself and LO. I hope you feel better, and get checked out, if nothing just to put your mind at rest.

It's best to get checked out as soon as possible because if you do have it they need to treat you right away to make sure you and baby are ok. I hope you are feeling better!

Hope everything's okay... If you haven't done so already Cheryl, phone your midwife up and ask her for advice. Don't worry yourself too much, because like you said these symptoms could well be caused by SPD (or any number of other things) but it's best you get checked out (sooner rather than later), just to be safe.

Best wishes

Hey sorry guys was really exhausted after work yesterday so went to bed after a nice soak in the bath
My family and OH have ordered me to bed rest with my feet up as my mum found out all about preeclampsia and is worried. Although she still thinks I should wait for Wednesday to get checked which I am a little unsure of.
I might ask her about the MWU though.
p.s Can't get hold of the midwifes as it is easter *sigh*

Thanks Everyone x
