I'm Currently Feeling: | Breastmilk contains all that a baby needs for the first 6 months of its life. It's reccommended that you feed a baby exclusively on milk for that period of its life; When you start them on solids and wean them after that is entirely up to you. I'm sure you'll figure it out as you go along - just do what feels right. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I plan on breast feeding for at least a year. I might pump for a while after, I just dont think I'm comfortable with a toddler whos running around coming to BF. But pumping and giving it to her I'd def be ok with. And it has so many health benefits. I was told it was best if you would do up to 2 years. We'll have to see how it goes. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm planning on going at least a year. DH was 5 when his mom stopped! Don't think I could go more than 2 years though! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I plan on going for 12 months. Some studies have said after 2 years it's not for nutrition it's for comfort.
In developing countries I can see why they would, it's cheaper than cows milk or other drinks and water is so contaminated. |

| But if it comforts your child -- isn't that a good thing?
And it still has a nurtritional value. A childs immune system isn't fully developed till around the age of 5-7.
People only find it weird because it is a social taboo unfortunately, which is sad. In many other Countries it is seen as the norm' to breastfeed till the baby naturally weans itself.
Also -- The Koran (Islam) says you must feed your child up to the age of 2.
I'm shocked about the 5-6 Months remark. Why? Any reason? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm shocked about the 5-6 Months remark. Why? Any reason? | I didn't say it was a bad thing. It's just not for me. Nor do I study or believe in the Koran, so that means nothing to me. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | As long as I can but not over a year. Depends on my milk supply.
Should also add that I'm only pumping now but I still consider it boobie feeding! |
