I'm Currently Feeling: | My postpartum belly
I was actually pleasantly surprised with my imediate postpartum tum - (despite a load of the dreaded stretchies appearing after the birth )
In honesty, I have gone up a couple of dress sizes, and I didn't manage to get through the pregnancy without getting a load of stretchmarks, BUT It has shrunk down incredibly from what it was and the stretchmarks could have been a lot worse... And the effects on my body truly seem like nothing as a price to pay for the gorgeous little girl that we now have in our lives
I don't know if it's the case for everybody, but my body was the last thing on my mind after I had Anna, and all those pregnancy worries about what I would look like after the birth just seemed so trivial and were completely overshadowed by the joy at becoming a mum.
My tummy could have been better, could have been worse - it's not too bad either way - and I've simply accepted it the way it is. Now I'm just enjoying being a mum and trying to do the best I can for my daughter.
Best of luck to all you girls! (In everything!) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm so glad you posted this because I've been thinking the same thing. My belly has always been flat so I don't really have much in the way of loose fitting clothes. I'm really scared of having excess skin after too. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Wow, thanks everyone! Jess, I didn't do anything especially special to shrink my tummy back into shape... I did drink rasberry leaf tea throughout my pregnancy, which is a uterine tonic. What that means is that while it does not cause contractions it does tone up the uterus in a manner of speaking so that your body deals as efficiently with the contractions during labour as possible, giving you an easier, faster labour (which I'd definately say mine was!) It also helps to contract the uterus after birth.
Also, I breastfeed (a lot! - Anna is a little piggy! lol) and this gives out the hormones necessary to naturally contract the uterus back down to size.
Hope this helps a little! |
