It was Rage for a reason- everything the band and their music stands for- its speaks metaphorically a message against mass production and the modern machine of capitalism, consumerism and a loss of control...

so the band wasnt really 'chosen'...the music appoints itself as a 'Rage against the machine' of everything that simon cowell and the xfactor represent...everything that i have mentioned above!

plus rage is just effing awsome...

Rage are great, not a massive fan, but they are good.
(i love all music, rap/rock/metal/pop etccccc)
twiggy56 is right, they technically stand for 'Anti-Capitalism' and all that.

like i've heard in the past - we're now a 'Nanny State'

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GOOD OLD PUNKKKK haha.

im a huge ratm fan so im just happy they are number 1 for that reason.

but yeah the xfactor song was rubbish and i wanted olly to win anyway. really got my goat i read in the paper joe ranting about that ratm are rubbish and how cud anyone like that song and also goin on about how hes worked so hard n deserved number 1.

i felt like givin him a slap...but im sure the members of ratm wont care what he says as they count there millions in the bank

fast forward to 3min46 seconds and listen to what this guy says!! I dont know his name, I dont watch xfactor and I just looked up that video because I truly had no clue who this boy was or what song rage beat But when i checked today to see if rage won it, my husband and I were laughing so hard. I looked at that list on wiki and said think what our kids will think when they look back over the years to see rage at xmas no.1 Let alone the babies born this month and that will always be the no.1 when they were born

Thing is, if Joe really has the longevity, then he'll get his number one hit.. who knows, it may even be next week. it just won't be a christmas number 1. The guy does have talent, now, he just needs to prove it a little more.
Also, While Simon may work for Sony, his label (which Joe is signed to) is a sub company of theirs,. so while Sony will get all the profits from Joe's sales, Simon won't see any benifits (bar publicity) over RATM winning as they are signed directly to Sony.

When it comes down to it... 20million people watched the final, 10million votes came in, obviously the majority of them were for Joe, even if some people voted multiple times, you've gotta think that there was at least 1-2million people (at least) voting for Joe to win. If that was the case... why did he only get 450,000ish record sales? surely it should have been at least DOUBLE that if everyone that voted for him to win went out and bought the single? If people wanted Joe to win, then they had the power to make sure that was achieved.

it just seems as if XFactor always wins now, that's why most of the time nobody else tries to release a specific Christmas single, they know it has no chance with the amount of people who watch and vote on XFactor x
