Im 19 and I cant remember one decent 'christmassy' christmas number 1. But I like that rage won. It just shows how powerful the internet is. Just think what we can achieve? What about uniting to make important decisions on politics or war for example? It's a great way to end the noughties.

yeah i get that everyone is fed up of xfactor being number 1 at xmas (myself included) i just think it would of been a better idea to choose a record from a band/artist that wasnt signed under the same label that cowell works for. LOL. Its not like missing out on xmas number one is gonna have made a big difference to simon cowells fortune.... it could however have an impact on Joe Mcelderrys career (which lets face it isnt gonna be a lengthy one anyways)..... does any of that make sense or am i rambling preggo nonsense again?

Plus- it shouldn't just be assumed that it would be number one! No one else even tries to go for Xmas number one because it's a given the xfactor winner will get it. Hopefully next year we'll have some proper choice- and Simon will have to choose a good song instead of any old rubbish if he's got any chance in getting no.1.

i dont really like Joes song but i do feel sorry for him. It is just assumed that they will get the xmas number one.

I just hope its not a sign of how Joe career will go as he is an amazing singer!!!

I wish banks would produce a christmas song that all go in for a race to get the xmas number 1 like they used to!!!

xxx

Simon Cowell will benefit either way, but i haven't got an issue with that, good on him, he's a clever bloke in my oppinion, everyone just seems to hate him because he says what he thinks.

The whole point of having Rage as a runner in the Christmas number one was because they are so 'Anti-Everything' haha like the lyrics suggest. Some people said it was even better that the lyrics said 'i won't do what you tell me' as it seems every year now, nobody has a chance against XFactor usually.

Joe will do fine, just like all the rest, even though he'll probably only be around for 2/3 years at the most, at least they'll get a nice fortune

i dont get why everyone thinks its so great that rage got the number 1, lets face it without a huge campaign behind them they never would have been top 40 never mind number 1, am i the only one that hasnt missed the irony?

x factor, simon cowell v's huge internet campaign - errr whatever happened to bands/acts/groups whatever you want to call them releasing a single and people CHOOSING to buy it because they liked it

in all honesty how many people downloaded RATM and backed the campaign - who ordinarally wouldnt have even heard the song
