When I had my first baby I took DD (now 12) about 400 miles to visit family via car, by myself. It's about a 6 hour drive. Went fine, had a blast, and it was good to get out. Made several similar trips once a year or so over the last 10 years. DD travels on long trips wonderfully now, and I chalk it up to the extended car rides over the years

No summer plans this year, though we just bought a boat for the lake and plan to be on that a lot fishing and swimming, so I'm sure that's where we'll be most weekends.

MIL about had a fit when I told her I would be taking baby... "you can't take the baby out in the sun!!!!"



I told her, if we didn't take our kids where we went, we wouldn't be doing much of anything.
