C-Section questions!

Hi everyone,

I`m 30 weeks pregnant but I know what I want as my birth plan and its a C-section of good enough reasons for myself but will it be good enough to have one though cause of my reasons or will the midwife decline it?

I`m 5ft5 I would say and I`m measuring 8 weeks bigger and My OH is 6ft4 and he was 9 pound and 3 weeks early while I was 5 pound and 2 weeks late but anyway his mum also had another child after my OH who was just under 11 pound and a week early.

I`m wanting ask my midwife for C-section because the size of the babies that my OH mother had, She have said that since given birth to 2 big babies that down below have never been the same, shes had operation uopn operations to mend it and still nothing and now she`s more problems while she`s getting older but I do not want to be like her espcially mine measuring 8 weeks bigger already!!

Do you all think my reason for a C-section is good enough?

No i dont. Its to early to tell what size ur baby is. having a c/s is major stomach operation. id only have one as a last resort. my oh was a huge baby at birth, but i wasnt. im 5ft 3, and our daughter was 7lb 9 and this one is est at 8lbs. i think u really have to wait and see what sort of sized baby ur having b4 u make a major decsion like this.

Yes dates are perfect form the 12 week scan my midwife have said, Ive even had another scan 28 weeks to check if its excess fluid but it aint and had a diabetes check and we both not diabetec.

They giving me another scan when im 32 weeks well on the 21st this month to check if shes still the same but should I be worried?

Would they consider a c-section this early then?

I know alot about a c-section as I had a etopic pregnancy this time last year and had to have a operation that carries out like a c-section but its only been a year and havent really healed.

I would rather have a c-section for my own personal things but I`m worried that the midwife would decline that aint good enough reason to have one.

Have anyone been through the same or anything or any advise at all?

Honestly, I don't think she will give you a C section unless she scans you and the baby is defo measuring that far ahead as fundal height is a load of crap. Mine was out by 44%. I can see your reasons for wanting to have one, but as I've been told all the way through my pregnancy, no two pregnancies are the same. Your baby could be small and you could be carrying a lot of water, or it could just like the extra space and has streched your womb. A big bump doesn't really mean a big baby and even if the baby is big, it doens't mean that you will have complications because of it.

By all means ask, but I wouldn't get my heart set on it if I were you. I work with a lady who is tiny (under 5 foot) and gave birth to a 11lb baby and although her baby was showing as being in 98th percentile she still had to have a normal birth. C Sections are only normally given becuase of medical complications and have to be authorised by a consultant who I guess wouldn't class having to push a big one out as a medical complication, more of a huge inconvienence.

i wouldnt have thought that they would offer you a c section, the time after in hospital is longer, they might need the bed, im pretty sure they would only do a section if there was a medical reason, they might induce you early if they feel the baby is to big maybe at 38 weeks.

Good luck x
