Internals!!

Hi Ladies, I know I've got a while to go ( I'm 28 weeks) But I'm beginning to worry about internal examinations. Are they painful or just uncomfortable? I just need to know what to expect!! Sorry for the personal question!!! Any info would be great!!!

I only had one in labour and I didn't even feel it (maybe from being in allsorts of other pain).

Yes I found the internals to be very uncomfortable and not very nice.
I didn't have any pain with them, but I was wincing at one point with one of them.
It depends on how gentle the doctor/midwife is when they perform the internal, mine were all quite rough, but I suppose they have to be.
Don't stress out too much over them though, you'd be amazed at what you can cope with when you have to.

I think it happens if you have complications or need to. My cousin said the Dr put her fist inside her to feel the baby's head and she said coz she didnt know what to expect when they mentioned an examination it was painful but had it over with.
But when they mentioned to her that they had to do it again she was in tears!! Sorry to put you off.

You dont usually get them until labour and I guess by which point you wont care so much anyway. My experience is that even if you request one from your community MW you get told no!

I had my first experience of an internal yesterday to see if i was in labour and to be honest, apart from being a little uncomfy, i didn't think it was too bad. I soon forgot about it afterwards and didn't have any pain either.
