Horrible Heart burn

so this morning at 2:30 am I was woke up by the most horrible heart burn ever!! I tried everything Tums, pepto, yogurt, mints, and milk...finally at 4am I was finally able to go back to sleep..but this morning when I woke up..i can still feel the slight heartburn..it's driving me crazy..Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I've barely ate today due to the heartburn..I've just had a bowl of soup, and some bread. I would be so happy if it would just go away!

I was told you can get something from your Doctor, for when all alternatives don't work. I'm not sure what it's called though...

My doctor prescribed me ranitidine tablets to take an hour or so before bad. It stops me waking up with a mouthful of acid xx

You mentioned milk - have you tried it hot/warm? Cold milk does nothing for me, but hot it gets rid of the heartburn immediately. Good luck, I know how horrible it can be. xxx

don't really have much advice as i have only just started suffering with it and so far gaviscon has done the trick, but i feel your pain! I wake up at about 4a.m. and end up sitting up for ages reading a book until the acid settles down. not nice! xxx

ya know..the weirdest thing fixed it..and I would of never thought to do it. My mom told me to drink warm water..And I thought she was insane, but out of all the things that didn't work, that worked!
