*puts hand up*

Yeah, mine is lying back to back! I get a dull ache in the bottom of my spine. MW said 90% will turn in labour, but labour will be more concentrated in the back.

Awkward Monkeys!

me me me! my lil one is back to back and has been for the past 3 weeks! not too comfy, have been trying to get her to turn, have stopped sitting on my sofa and only sit on my ball or upright in a chair - always sleep on my left side etc etc - no budge! I read that having an anterior placenta can make it hard for them to turn the right way (and I have one). I also read your more likely to go over due with back to back cos they don't put the right pressure on the cervix or something! oh no!

Keep trying with this, wiggling on a birthing ball AND crawling around on all fours... all supposed to encourage turning. At the end of the day, though, it is up to the baby to want to turn...

But do as much as you can to avoid back-to-back labour.

Isn't it funny what info we are given!! My MW told me that it was more likely my waters would break when baby was back to back!!

I keep trying the movement tips, but was still back to back last week!

all 3 of mine have been back to back & my first 2 were both early (13 days & 4 days) it is so uncomfy at times & both of them turned in the last few minutes of delivery (typical lol) so i had back labours which was painful. I was told that they would induce me last time coz they didnt think i would go into labour naturally but i did & Roxies labour only lasted 2 hours from first pain

Maybe that's why I've had two hind water leaks already then!

just found this on babyworld.co.uk

Quite a few babies start off labour in a posterior position. A posterior position can present difficulties for a number of reasons. Because of the shape of a baby's head, and the various dimensions and angles of the pelvis, the head of a baby who is lying in a posterior position doesn't fit into the pelvis so well. As a consequence, the head may not be in close contact with the cervix, which may result in the pregnancy going overdue, and in contractions (when they start) not being as efficient as they should be. It can also result in labour being more painful, because as well as the normal pain of labour that is associated with the cervix dilating, there can be other pain caused by the baby's head pressing down on other soft tissues around the womb. There is often also bony pressure on the lower back, caused by the back of the baby's head - instead of its face, which is much more yielding - pressing on the sacrum and coccyx. Also, because the baby isn't able to tuck its chin well down when it's lying posteriorly, a much larger diameter of the baby's head is coming first. Therefore, if the baby doesn't turn into an anterior (with its back against your front) position for the birth, the likelihood of assistance, in the form of forceps or even a caesarean section, being needed is higher.
