I'm Currently Feeling: | Anyone of you had prenatal screenings or amniocentesis? I was speaking to a friend of mine today about pregnancy etc. She asked me if I had any of those screenings (down syndrome etc) and I said no I didn't. She said I was crazy not to have had any...
I was offered a prenatal screening when I was around 11 weeks, but declined it because we didn't have the money and my insurance wouldn't cover it...
Did any of you ladies had screenings?
I'm scared now even though I don't have any reason to believe there would be something wrong with baby, but we never know... Anyone else scared? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Dont worry, I opted not to have any screenings either. They are unnecessary unless you are at risk for those problems. If your doctor thought you were at risk he/she would have told you and would have highly recommended that you have them. Dont stress! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | We declined all those screening tests, like we told the doc - if baby is disabled it won't make any difference, we'll love it just as much, there's NO WAY we would've aborted.
I don't think you were crazy to not have the tests at all. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I declined them as well. I am a young healthy woman. Once I get over the age of 35 and keep making the babies, then I will think about having it done. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I did have the Integrated Prenatal Screening for neural tube defects (2 blood tests and NT scan)
We got 1:32 000 for Down's Syndrome and even lower for other defects.
Put my mind at ease a lot. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I turned down the screenings as well. It really is a very personal choice and your friend had no right to scare you. Chances are you have a perfectly healthy baby! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I didn't have the screenings either. Their false positive rate is so high, we decided it wasn't worth the risk. And we wouldn't have aborted, so it wouldn't make a difference for us. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | We did the genetic testing, but that was it. When we filled out the paperwork, I signed the consent for the triple test, but the lab forgot to order it. They contacted us at 20 weeks, to ask if we would like to have it done since they didn't do it at 10. We said at that point, no we didn't want to. Me and DH talked it over, and we wouldn't act on any of the information anyway, and we're both young and healthy. Dont feel bad about it. I was a little nervous for a bit, but it wouldn't change the way I felt about my LO in the slightest. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've opted for the amnio. My doctor will be making my appointment when I see him on the 18th, and I am quite sure it will be within a week or so after. The closer it gets, the more nervous I am getting about the actual procedure. |
