Treating Hemorrhoids (Piles)

Okay ladies, I apologize for the TMI-ness of this post in advance.

For the first time in my life, I think I've got hemorrhoids. And they're not small either. I spent an hour straining on the toilet and this is what happened.

I really don't want to try any meds yet (I'm not in any pain) but I don't know how in the world it will go down. It looks terrible.

Other than lots of fluids and fiber, any way to get rid of them naturally? Has anyone tried Preparation H?

Not naturally, but cream really does help! I got a tiny one at the beginning of pregnancy and started using the cream. It went after a couple of days and felt better almost immediately xx

I have suffered from hemorrhoids for the last two weeks for no apparent reason. I called my MW yesterday and she said that PH was safe to use ( mine are painful) she also said "witch hazel" would also be an option. I haven't tried either as of yet. I am hoping that if I just take it easy for a few days and avoid heavy lifting ect..maybe they will go away on their own...I have never had them B4.

I've developed hemorrhoids during pregnancy also - I've used the Preparation H cream a couple times and it does make them feel better and reduce inflammation.

Hi there,

Few pointers that may help

1) You could try is a Sitz bath... (if you don't have a sitz bath.... then just a few inches of warm water in the bath to sit in will help)...for after you go to the bathroom...
2) Try not to "strain" if you cant go without straining don't.....
3) Anusol also works well too.... if they do become painful though I would ask your doc/midwife to take a look,
4) Try a stool softener (they are safe during pregnancy - you could ask your doctor to recommend/pescribe you some).
5) Sit on a soft cushion...
6) Drink plenty of clear fluids - less coffee/tea if you can..

Hope that helps!
