hey, has anyone had a c section whilst under... as in asleep at the time?

im upset becus i have recently found out that i might have to get a c section whilst asleep becos of my condition, i have thrombocytopenia which means i have a blood clotting disorder.. not only that the baby may have to have a blood transfusion aswell as me. this will be in 3 -4 weeks time!!! i dont no what to think

aw hun.
I am having an appointment tomorrow to discuss this too. I could go into spontanious labour but if i had a c section i would have to be put to sleep.

As far as i know it doesnt harm bubs. They literally puit you to sleep and whip baby out. I think maybe speak to hubby and make sure no one but he gets to hold baby before you wake!!! I am on team yellow and have asked if i can find out what sex bubs is if i have tro be put to sleep so i am not the last one.

Good luck.
xxx

I'm sorry to hear that. I may have to have the same, if they find that my heart condition will make it unsafe for me to push. Added to that, an epidural may not work on me because my spine is crooked and the nerves are messed up, so they might have to knock me out for the surgery. I would definitely prefer to be awake and participate in my baby's birth, I'm sure you feel the same. But hell... at least there will be no tearing, screaming or poo-ing during delivery! Fingers crossed for you & bubs!

Hiya i have thrombocytopenia too. But i am opting for a normal delivery. I dont want a section unless its absoloutely necesary.

what r ur platelets sitting at?

Ive been told ill have a transfusion b4 and after delivery, that should help.
