We've made no plans this year partly because our LO is due on the 28th Dec. We've been invited to my parents for dinner but we're not sure if we're going.

oohh we are going NOWHERE - we are going to a restaurant for lunch (no mess or washing up) just the two of us then spending the day just cuddled up in jammies lol. I have removed us from all family celebrations and told family they are welcome to come visit us on a 'self service' basis (lol) which they are more than happy to do. I figure its only once and being that far along we have to think of ourselves and take it easy. We dont have other kids to consider though so appreciate your dilemma xxxxxxxx

ohh that is tricky! how far would you have to travel? i'd invite them round instead and say you can't manage the journeys ... i've always had to travel round to everyone on xmas day (50-60 mile round trip) but not sure what we're doing this year, we'll have a few-weeks-old baby so we'll have to see! the thing that's making me more inclined to go and visit other people is that they will then provide everything for us and no need for shopping/cooking/washing up in our own house!

NO! You please yourself!! Soon you won't have that luxury (at least to the same extent)! So make the most of daytime jammy-wearing while you can.

The Boxing Day leftovers buffet is a good idea, if you can face being descended upon by a group of relatives. We're having my mum and dad round to ours on Christmas day, but I plan to recline on the sofa all day and be waited on like a diva! I'll not be able to get away with it for much longer... Luckily my DH agrees with this plan...

My parents are divorced, and generally get on ok-ish, but are much better behaved if given tasks to do - stops them from getting bored and picking on each other.
