| Normal baby heart beat is between 120 and 180.
88bpm sounds more like you are picking up her heart beat. | | | | Status: Offline

| I'd say you were picking up hers as well as it's very easy to do. | | | | Status: Offline

| I'm know it's supposed to be pretty high, that's why I'm kind of a little freaking out.... I know it's not her heart beat, it's definitely her babies. | | | | Status: Offline

| If your sure it's the babies then tell her to call her midwife, but I would honestly be surprised if it was mainly as I've gotton myself into a tiz before thinking that my heartrate was the babies and when i got checked out I was picking up my own pulse as your main vena cava vein is in roughly the same area as where you would expect to pick up the baby's heartbeat so it is really easy to convince yourself that the noise that you are hearing is the babies espcially as you can often pick up the whoosing of the placenta which convinces you more. | | | | Status: Offline

What makes you so sure that it is the baby's heartbeat and not your sister's pulse?

QT | I'll second that. The baby's heartrate should be roughly double hers. | | | | Status: Offline

| I went in for monitoring last week because of this. I listened in and it was really slow, panicked and went in not knowing if it was mine or baby's. I have never picked my heartbeat before and didn't think at this late stage (33 weeks) you could get mixed up as baby was so much bigger. I checked again ten mins later and was normal, but still felt sick with worry. The midwife was very nice and said this happens so often with people having dopplers at home. She picked mine up once while putting the straps on and had to move it.
Having said all that, if she feels like I did the only thing now is to go in and get checked because you can't rest until you do. They never mind you going in and it is better to get checked out because you cannot be 100%. Tell her to call the labour ward for their advice. Good luck hun, I am sure all is okay. x | | | | Status: Offline
