anyone had an ECV for a breech baby?

Hi,

Had midwife appointment this morning and again baby is still breech and has been for weeks. She has referred me to the hospital for a scan. Does anyone know if you see a consultant at the same time or just have the scan. I am back with the midwife next thursday anyway.

I know that I have two options if baby doesnt turn.

ECV or C section.

Has anyone experienced a ECV if so could you give me advice I have heard mixed things about it. I know it comes down to personal choice but I have heard that it can be really uncomfortable and could distress the baby.

I had my DS early at 37 weeks so midwife wants me to have scan real soon incase I go early again.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I had an ECV at 38 weeks beacuse he was breech. It was fine. The most painfull bit was the injection they give you to sofen the uterus. The rest was fine. They took 4 mins to turn him. Didn't hurt. Of course everyone is different.

Although I still had to have a c-section as I didn't progress during labour. Atleast I knew I had done eberything I could to avaoid a c-section so I felt better about it all. C-section was fine though and nothing to worry about.

Hope all goes well for you.

Well, i personally wouldn't have one as someone's baby had their legs accidently broke during this procedure and he has metal braces to straighten them out still years later. I am sure this is very rare but there is a risk plus the thought that the placenta can be ruptured just puts me off.

I was in the day bed unit the other day, and the girl in the next bed was getting one. The mw told her over n over she could stop it at any point, and was telling her it would be uncomfortable, but that the consultant doing it was very good. She went ahead with it, and i didnt hear her scream or anything.
