I've had it really bad tonight to the point where I feel like i'm goin to throw up and have none of the horrible stuff left, so I thought i'd look for some home remedies on the web and I found a good one........CHEWING GUM!!!! Yep this worked for me too...something to do with saliva neutralising the acid...thing is, I can only chew it for so long before it makes me gag and I have to spit it out!! I also worry about chewing it at night in case I fall asleep and choke on it!!

I agree about the gaviscon though. It is really horrible!!

I cannot STAND gaviscon. I have resorted to eating a bowl of cereal of an evening when heartburn gets too bad and limiting the amount of bread and pastry I eat...though there are several things that start it off I have found these things contribute to it most!

Going to try chewing gum tonight if it gets bad again!

Though apparently, heartburn is supposed to indicate a girl? Mum was telling me she only had heartburn when she was having us girls, not when she had the boys...and while I was preg with Josh I didn't have heartburn! Anyone else?

Go to the docs and ask for Maalox (has to be prescribed...)
Its an ant-acid medicine, tis more watery than gaviscon, tastes a bit batter, but damn works a rite treat!! like i can instantly feel it working!!

My doc also told me last week that they are stopping giving gaviscon to pregnant women coz it doesnt seem to help many people!!

I'm having a boy so I don't know but i'm goin for my 4d scan next week and i'm goin to ask to see his balls so I know for sure

I've tried Maalox but it doesnt work for me.

Oh and the chewing gum only worked untill I got into bed and lay down
