more 'unusual' suggestions to induce labour?

well my OH did a bit of internet research earlier, in the 'desparate and will try anything' vein ... from various websites he came up with suggestions like:

* blowing up balloons (hmm it's my nephew's birthday at the weekend so I might just give this one a try heheh)
* swinging on a swing (I'm off to the park now)
* eating kiwi fruit
* wearing your best knickers (except none of my best ones fit right now)
* watching a weepy movie and having a good cry
* laughing till you wee yourself
* arm wrestling (also mentioned in Ina May Gaskin's book!)

no idea what the basis for these is but they made us chuckle

I was naughty and had a glass of port at around 10pm Saturday night as i was so stressed (it definitely made me relax). Went to bed and woke up at 1am Sunday morning with contractions 5 mins apart each lasting about a minute!! I guess my boy isnt a fan of port!

Nothin shifted my 1st 2 babies and i tried everything! Both induced 10 days overdue. With my 3rd my husband gave me a back massage when i was 38 weeks pregnantand my waters went an hour later! (prob just coincidence though).

The back massage idea might have some merit. There are pressure points over the sacral area (feel for the two slightly nobbly bits about 6-ish inches apart either side on the back of the pelvis, approximately level with the top of the bum crack - depending on the bum in question). Massage therapists should avoid this area in pregnancy as it's known to possibly trigger labour. My cousin gave me a massage over my lower back when I was due and I went into labour that night.

Gina. x

Decided the only thing that's going to shift this one is time - so I'm fully booking my diary for the next 10 days with people to meet and places to see so I'm hopefully so busy I'm not going to worry about it anymore
