After hope last week - still breech - ECV booked

So so bloody sad.

Still breech and was confirmed with scan this morning. Bottom at bottom and leggs straight, so head and feet up near my ribs.

Absolutely gutted beyond words.

ECV booked for thurs morning. Have to fast from midnight then call at 8 to be told when theatre clear (just in case) so I can go in and they attempt turn. Success rate was 70%, but no reduced to 'more than 50%' as legs straight.

Held it together in hospital, but when I got to the car I just boo hoo'd. Couldn't stop. So sad. Really scared of c section, and it hasn't even entered by head that bubba will turn during the ecv. Poor OH was beside himself because he can't do anything to help.

He tried to say not to worry as the baby is well, but I know that. I have no fear for the baby, but rather I am really beside myself with fear for a c section. Don't want to be cut, don't want to be awake. Can't really have either of those wishes unless ecv works.

Had a nice week of no worry after the midwife told me she thought it was head down, but all that worry is now back with more.

I'm back up in limbo, waiting again, back with the c section hanging over me. Boo Hoo

I know exactly where you're coming from. I've got a scan tomorrow at 36 + 4 to check the growth and position but I can tell mine is still breech although I think he's managed to bend his knees down after having his feet up around his face 3 weeks ago. he's also turned back to back now I don't think there's much chance of him turning on his own.

I'm so scared about having a c-section - I've never had an operation before and the whole thing freaks me out when I think about it too much.

But if that's what is recommended by the consultant when I see them I'm going with it - I don't want to put baby at higher risk of problems and at least we'd know when it was going to be.

Fingers crossed they manage to turn yours tomorrow and it all works out how you want.

Dont panic!! I had my ECV last Thursday an its not as bad as it sounds

OK it hurts like a bugger when the consultant does decide to move him but i cant see it bein half as bad as the actual labour! I went back for my check up at the ANC yesterday and the midwife confirmed he has stayed put!! As long as they hold him in position for a few minutes after they do turn him he should stay put, especially if its your first child as your muscles are stronger to hold him there.

My lil man is now led with head in position and feet up around my ribs Yeah his feet are flailin around all over at the minute an he complained like lil monkey when he did get moved but wouldnt you if you had been in the same position for 8 months and then someone moved you??!! haha

I panicked like mad when i heard i had to go in for the ECV but now ive had it done i feel so much better... im much comfyer and so is my lil man as his head isnt squished anymore and he can kick like mad! Sleeping at night is so much better too!
The only down side is my ribs were sore after him bein breech for so long and then when they turn him he decides to kick like mad right in the ribs... awfully nice of him. But apart from that its much better!!

Dont worry... im keepin my fingers crossed for both of you!! I just wish someone had given me some calming advice before i had to go in and tell me it was going to be OK cos i didnt have a clue what to expect.

Take care and everything will be fine, im sure! xx

Thanks to all of you, and KellyMH - most helpful. Can't help but panic though!!

Hattie Hippo, yes, that sums up exactly how I feel - really scared as I too have never had anything done at all!

Ready to go in now at any moment and just waiting for the hospital to call. Waiting waiting waiting!!! (and I really want a cup of tea but I'm not allowed!!)
