high sugar


my midwife told me yesterday that my sugar is high, what does this mean is it or can it be dangerous ??? xxx

No idea unless she meant your glucose level, a high level indicates gestational diabetes. But I am not sure, you should call her and ask her what she meant.

I'm Currently Feeling: 



Its normal to have sugar sometimes in your urine at your appointments, its usually related to gestational diabetes if its high but I think you have to have high sugar in your urine more than once in a row at your appointments. So if she didn't seem too worried then I think you're ok. Hopefully there isn't any on your next visit

I'd imagin she must have meant in your urine since I would have thought if it was a gloucose tollerance test she'd have explained it better. I had glucose found in my urine and just had it checked again to see if I'd need a glucose tollerance test which I didn't. It sometimes just happens from having a sugary drink or snack and it's nothing to worry about.

Glucose (sugar) isn't normally found in urine unless the levels in your blood are excessive, then it does.
If glucose is found in your urine, this should be looked into further. Some drugs you take can cause this.
I would speak to your midwife again to see if they are going to investigate it further. x
