Was that the worst bit of labour for u and on a scale of 1-10, how painful was it? Might as well prepare myself just now just incase! X
I never felt the tear or the stitches as I had an epidural. honestly it is nothing to worry about. I went from 3cm to 10 cm in 20 minutes and pushed really hard without realizing and just tore. The worst bit was after, I just had to be careful to not "flop" down. Sitting carefully I was fine. The stitches dissolved and apart from the first poo, it was all ok.(pain factor 10!!! Sorry) Labour pains were more painful in the whole business!!

Try not to worry.

yeah i had this with my 1st. They could have done a better job at stitching it back up, it looks like a botched job. I hate it

I tore quite badly last time and didnt notice, only when they had Dr in to do stitches and she said "just use the gas and air as it saves me using local anaesthetic" was like...hmm okkkk. The stitching was ok too, bit stingy but not painful just "ouch!" at a couple of moments. I didnt then have any real issues, peeing stung as most of my stitches were on the inside of my hoohar but I got the knack of leaning forward so the wee never ran backwards so to say....

Despite having had a fairly bad tear last time I would rather tear than have an epiostomy, however last time I was on my back and there was a slight rush to have him out as his heartrate was dipping and there had been meconium in my waters so I didnt have the opportunity to not push as his head crowned, I just had to get him out so having rushed that stage is what did it I imagine...hopefully this time baby will cope better and I can go slower through the crowning phase and fingers crossed not tear at all (wishful thinking)

I had an episiotomy because they had to use a ventouse, the stiches hurt despite annestetic and g&a, it hurt afterwards too unitl the stiches disolved 2 weeks later, then it was like instant relief!

My grandmother never had any stitches with her 6 kids and apparently midwives used to be far more active in preventing them. She'd said that they used to do perineum massage during labour to get the area ready for the crowning.

I MUST remember to do some perineum massage tonight!!!!
