Question

Labour - Birthing Pool

I really like the idea of using a birthing pool for my labour. I think it might make the whole thing a bit more relaxed and chilled out.

Im hoping the warm water will soften everything up and make me feel all floaty..

I'd like to steer clear of an epi so thought this might help instead..

Even now if I get BH's I have a warm bath and it really eases the pain..

Anyone actually used a birthing pool??

Anyone else considering it??

I had a water birth and it was lovely. I had gas and air and felt that was enough for me (apart from at one point, but I wasn't allowed pethidine - I soon learned to cope with that pain with the gas and air).

Next time I have a baby it'll be the same.

I'm probably too early to even be thinking this but i would really like a water birth.

I like the idea of more mobility in the water as i know i am not going to be able to sit still.

I think I would like to have a water birth as well with just gas and air, i might hire a tens machine and use that until I get to a certain stage maybe. I am just so scared of giving birth i am thinking of it all the time now.

I had a tens machine, then when that wasnt enough I had gas n air with the tens..then I took the tens off n got in the birthing pool with gas and air and it was great. Really helped so much I thought. The room was done with nice plants n lighting and radio as well so was so chilled out. After a few hours I asked if I could give birth in the pool but when they broke my waters the lil man had went poo lol so I couldnt have my water birth I really recommend it though!

I was really interested in this a while ago too. I think its a lot less common in the states, and I dont think my hospital even offers it from what I understand. Def find out about it tho, it seemed so relaxing and calming.

I can rent a pool from my midwife to use, and I so am! I am a bath addict, so I know I will really enjoy using it during labor.
